Navigating Through the Storms of Your Church Crises

"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought." 1 Cor. 1:10

The Bible is filled with storms. Storms of temptation, conflict and tragedy, and even some which are of satanic origin! The one thing all storms have in common is wind...wind that blows you off the course of your life. Adam and Eve had a perfect world, until the tempter showed up. Paul and Barnabas were a powerful team for God, until they got into an irreconcilable argument. The disciples were fearless, until a storm threatened to sink their boat. And so it is with us. However, no storm can overwhelm you if you are well prepared and if you know how to navigate back to your course in God. In addition to the questions we previously asked, here are a few more crisis- questions that arise in many ministries:

  1. As a young pastor, what can I do about older and long-term church members who don't want change in our church?
  2. Why isn't my congregation giving more? And what can I do about it?
  3. How much of our church crisis should I share with the whole congregation?
  4. I'm so busy putting out the fires of internal conflict that I can't reach the lost, isn't there a better way?

No church or ministry is without drama. Whether they are corporate or private, nothing can destroy a ministry faster than a mishandled crisis! Some crises are avoidable, others are not. You can be assured that there are no NEW church problems. Just ancient traps that the one generation must warn and guide the next through. Having weathered many such storms, here are some of the ways our ministry can help you:

Three Questions You Must Ask... Before you try to fix a problem. Handling a Crisis... An opportunity to do things God's way or my way. Conflict Resolution... Is win/win really possible in all cases? Legal Battles... Guess who always wins in these kinds of fights? Can Anything Good Come Out of This?... Turning a crisis into credibility. How to Navigate Back to your Course... Or is it even possible? Don't Throw Away the Basics... In the middle of your crisis. Discerning and Dealing with Storms... Before they appear on the horizon.
